Hi friends and readers!!! Welcome to this totally random mid-September edition of my author newsletter. For more info on what this newsletter is, see the about page. For more info on who I am, check out my website.
So I totally dropped the ball on that sweet once-a-month cadence I had going for the first six months of this (insane) year, but I have two good excuses for my ghost-like behavior:
As foreshadowed in my June newsletter’s real-estate-peeing saga, my boyfriend and I bought a house and are preparing to move next week! (I have YET to pee in this particular home, but all of its bathrooms passed inspection so hopefully there will be no surprises there.)
I wrote another book! It’s a shitty first draft and still needs a ton of work before I can share it with other humans, but still. It basically sucked up my every waking hour in July and August.
Anyway. Now that we’re just about eight months away from the release of my first book, I feel like I can start using this newsletter for its intended purpose of book promo and updates. And the first update I have is kiiiiind of a big one:
THE TITLE HAS CHANGED!
Mhmm. My book will now officially be released (on May 25, 2021) as Burn It All Down. It’s still rage-y and unhinged, but a little more supermarket-books-section-friendly.
Burn It All Down was actually the title I used while I was first writing/pitching this book last year, but during the acquisitions phase my publisher and I switched to Burn It the F*** Down to spice things up. Then a couple months ago we made the subtle change to Burn It the F**k Down (with a K!) — and then (very) recently — after some early conversations with retailers — we decided to scrap the “fuck” altogether in an effort to improve its odds for prime in-store placement. And so now we’ve landed back at Burn It All Down. It’s been a very full-circle journey! And I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. (I will kinda miss my beloved titular fuck, but I promise there are PLENTY of fucks within the actual pages of the book to make up for it, lol.)
The team is currently at work getting preorder links/etc updated with the new title and description, and once that happens I’ll be sending out an email with all of that info (and more, probably). If you happen to have already preordered it under the old title, then 1) THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU, and 2) no biggie, I’m pretty sure it will just update the existing product.
As always, thank you for reading/subscribing, and I can’t wait to share what’s in store in the coming months leading up to launch!
Nic
Preorder is a thing? Gimme the link, baby!
