Nearlywed is already two weeks old!

Let’s start by talking about the dream that was book tour with my new friends Meghan Quinn, Brittainy Cherry, and KJ Micciche (along with queen Lucy Score at our epic event in Pennsylvania). Y’ALL. We lived, we laughed, we loved (and lobstered! iykyk), all while meeting and signing for hundreds of the most amazing readers in all the land. Seriously — the vibes were immaculate at every single event.
I’m still coming down from the high (and sleep deprivation), but below is a collage of some of my favorite moments. If you’d like a video highlight reel, I recommend this IG post from my soulmate/sister Meghan Quinn, whose presence directly beside me on every panel was HIGHLY effective at tricking audiences into thinking I’m funny and charismatic.
I know I talk a lot on here about how the business side of publishing can be a bitch at times, but this past week reminded me of how much of an absolute blessing the rest of it is. The camaraderie I felt with my fellow authors — as we trudged through mazes of trains, cars, and airports, all while swapping stories/advice/jokes/pep talks — filled my soul and made me feel so much less alone. We were even treated to dinner at the HOME of Lucy freaking SCORE, who I’m convinced is actually not a human but instead an angel pretending to be one. (Remember Touched by an Angel? Very much like that.)
But the best part of the past week…?
The readers!
Meeting you all face-to-face is by far the greatest perk of this job. There’s just something about the shared love of books and the exchange of words that brings the writing process full-circle and makes me feel less like I’m a crazy person ranting into a Word document and more like I’m someone who’s telling a (very long) story to my dearest friends. So to everyone who came out to see me this past week: thank you, thank you, thank you x a million.

I randomly saw a TikTok earlier this week in which Nearlywed was featured as the Book of the Month at a bookstore chain I had previously never heard of, and they were charging 99.95 for it…at which point I was like, Damn, that’s a bold markup…but then I realized the figure was in fact not US dollars and that the store was actually a Bog&idé in Denmark!
So that was fucking awesome and now I’m contemplating a spontaneous trip there just to see the beautiful displays in person and bombard my Danish readers with unsolicited air hugs. Should I do it? I should probably do it.

It’s not lost on me that all of the above magic begins right here, with the folks who not only read/purchase my books but also take the extra step of subscribing to the ramblings and updates of NicNews — so once again, thank you all for the support.
