my next book comes out in two months so here are some UPDATES

nicolasdidomizio.substack.com

Hello and happy (belated) March! AKA my birth month. AKA Mariah Carey’s birth month. AKA the month that is two months away from May—AKA the month my next book comes out!! Here are some updates about it.

we have a new release date

In a spicy publishing plot twist, The Gay Best Friend’s official release date has changed from June 6th to May 30th. It’s just a week’s difference, but somehow it feels like a whole month??? I’m obsessed. If you’ve already preordered, you’ll now get it a week earlier than expected. If you haven’t preordered yet, you now have one less week to do so! No pressure! (Every preorder link ever is listed at the end of this newsletter, natch.)

Canada!!!

Some exciting news for my Canadian readers (I feel like there are at least a few of you here???) — HarperCollins Canada will be releasing a special Canadian edition of The Gay Best Friend (COMPLETE WITH FRENCH FLAPS) on the original release date of 6/6. It can be preordered here!

the FINAL cover

The cover has also been updated! It now features a blurb from New York Times bestselling QUEEN Lynn Painter (whom I’m lucky enough to call a dear friend after she came to my town last fall and we attended an event at this rich guy’s mansion and nearly peed from laughing so hard upon seeing that he had an UMBRELLA HOLDER in his foyer, which I promise will also be hilarious to you once my book comes out and you get to page 226 or so).

Isn’t it perfection? I’m obsessed, I’m obnoxious, I’m eager for 5/30 to get here already.

*Oprah bees voice* BLURBS!!!

I am honored to share that six incredible authors have graciously read early copies of The Gay Best Friend and offered praise that still has me pinching myself. I’m a huge fan of every one of these authors, so if you’re looking to add to your TBR, simply look no further than the buy links after each of their respective blurbs. You will not regret it!

Oprah Bees GIFs | Tenor

“Filled with charm, hilarity, sweetness and swoon, The Gay Best Friend is an absolute MUST-READ. DiDomizio deftly creates characters that are as lovable as they are deliciously-flawed, and I am officially obsessed with this book.” ― Lynn Painter, New York Times bestselling author of Mr. Wrong Number and The Love Wager

“Absurdly charming and outrageously irreverent, The Gay Best Friend is a goddamn delight from start to finish. Brimming with cheeky wit, breathtaking tenderness, and just enough chaotic messiness to have me screaming every other page, the term “beach read” was invented for a book like this. Nicolas DiDomizio is one of the funniest authors in the game, and I’ll read anything he writes.” ― Mazey Eddings, author of The Plus One

“Equal parts hilarious and heart-wrenching, The Gay Best Friend is not to be missed. It explores the complexities of love, friendship, and our capacity for forgiveness with sharp, emotional detail. In Dom, DiDomizio has created an unforgettable character to root for and relate to. I loved every page.” ― Annette Christie, author of The Rehearsals and For Twice In My Life

“Outrageously witty and incisive! The Gay Best Friend captures all the kinetic energy of a 90s Julia Roberts film and queers it. A perfect summer read that reminds us: putting yourself first should never be a second thought.” ― Timothy Janovsky, author of Never Been Kissed

“The Gay Best Friend is fun, frothy, and full of feels. With characters so messy they seem like people you’ve known your entire life―you know, the ones you simultaneously want to shake some sense into and hug the stuffing out of―it’s the perfect beach read.” ― Xio Axelrod, USA Today Bestselling Author

“The Gay Best Friend tugged at my heartstrings and tickled my soul in equal measure. With dialogue that zings and relatable characters you can’t help but root for, DiDomizio has created something sparkling and wonderful.” – Robin Lefler, author of Reasonable Adults

and here are two random tidbits from NetGalley reviews that are honestly so perfect I wish I came up with them myself…

“Picture The Hangover, but with gay stuff.”

“If you frequent AITA threads on Reddit but also reread The Great Gatsby yearly, you'll want to read The Gay Best Friend.”

in conclusion, it does not say RSVP on the Statue of Liberty here are the preorder links:

  • Northshire Bookstore (my local indie — ask for a signed/personalized copy in the order comments!)

  • Amazon

  • Barnes & Noble

  • Bookshop.org

  • Target

  • IndieBound

  • Books-a-Million

That’s all for now! I’ll probably send another newsletter next month with more information on launch events/etc, so stay tuned for that.

As always, thank you for reading and subscribing. I appreciate every bit of support so very much and can’t wait to share The Gay Best Friend with you in JUST A FEW SHORT MONTHS!
