Top of the morning to the best readers in all the land!
Happy Nearlywed day!!!
If you’re interested in learning more about the behind-the-scenes journey of this book, I recently chatted about it with the Nerd Daily and the New University campus newspaper.
One thing I’ve found myself thinking about during the lead-up to publication is how strange it feels to promote Nearlywed as my “third” book, when in reality I’ve written seven: three that were picked up by major publishers, two that I’m glad were never picked up by major publishers, one that received an offer so grossly lopsided in the publisher’s favor that I had to reject it, and one that I just finished writing last week.
I learned early on in my publishing journey that talent and hard work do not automatically guarantee success (not even an undeniably great book can do that) — they only guarantee a shot at success. The rest is based on a staggering amount of random, uncontrollable variables, the biggest of which are timing and pure dumb luck. Which is why I’m feeling particularly grateful — and lucky — for the opportunity to share Nearlywed with readers this summer. It’s the best of my published books thus far (in my fully unbiased opinion), a story for everyone who loves love (and who doesn’t love love?!), and I can’t wait to see where it goes now that it no longer belongs to me.
