a quick life update before I get to the fun stuff
Sooo this year did not start out great for me. I may or may not tell the long version of this story eventually, but the short version is that I severely injured my upper arm in January and underwent major surgery (to the tune of 4 hours, a 10-inch metal plate, and 15 screws drilled into my bone) to save it. I’m still recovering and have a ways to go until I’m operating at 100%, but I’m making progress every day. This experience has been extremely painful in more ways than one — BUT it has also given me a new perspective on life, adaptability, and resilience, and I’ll never take my health for granted again. I’m very grateful to have received such great care and to be on the mend!
Okay! So now that I’ve totally killed the mood…
here’s the fun stuff
I have two new books coming out! I’ve been sitting on this news for a while and am so excited to finally share that I’ve recently signed on with Sourcebooks for my next pair of novels. First up is The Gay Best Friend, a summer wedding comedy told entirely from the POV of (you guessed it) the couple’s gay best friend as he attends both their bachelor/bachelorette parties and struggles to balance his expected role with his actual self. Release is scheduled for next June!
Sourcebooks has such a creative marketing force and has put out so many fun bestsellers in recent years, and I couldn’t be happier to partner with them. It feels so good to finally land with a publisher that really believes in my writing and my career as an author.

And can I just say that I had sooooo much fun writing this book?!?! The “gay best friend” is such a well-worn trope in mainstream books/movies/television (my personal fave being Max Blum from the criminally underrated sitcom Happy Endings), and one of my intentions with this book was to subvert it by telling THAT character’s story— even (especially) as he knowingly plays sidekick to his two straight best friends as they go through all of their relationship drama leading up to their big wedding day. There are lots of laughs, cries, and cringe moments! There’s also plenty of golf, sun, sand, and seafood. A TRUE BEACH READ! I CANNOT WAIT FOR IT TO HIT SHELVES NEXT YEAR!
(The next book under this contract is still untitled… and unwritten, lol… but it will be another comedy and I can’t wait to get started on it soon!)
